BFA Interior Design Department Thesis Exhibition

President Obama’s stimulus package has the country thinking “infrastructure” with a focus on urban environments and mass transit. Although these projects are not shovel ready, some students graduating from the School of Visual Arts have designed transportation centers that enhance travel coast to coast. They include:

• Bringing a luxurious in-flight first-class cabin experience to an entire airport terminal
• Transforming the Battery-Maritime Building into an active ferry terminal and entertainment multi-plex
• Creating a sustainable NJ Transit Rail Station that brings community back to commuting.

The proposals are part of an exhibition at the Art Directors Club featuring the work of 20 students from SVA and curated by Neville Lewis (National Arts Club Gold Medal and Interior Design Hall of Fame) and Anthony Lee, design director, Gary Lee Partners. Jane Smith is chair of the BFA Interior Design Department at SVA.
