The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation will host a daylong masterclass on Saturday, March 7 from 10 to 5 pm to explore and experiment with ways in which artificial intelligence can be used to evaluate design. As artificial intelligence migrates into more aspects of everyday life, design competitions are one avenue through which to test its limits in architecture. With collaborators in New York and Helsinki, the Guggenheim is pairing artificial and human intelligence to create a new understanding of contemporary architecture using the 1,700-plus entries to the Guggenheim Helsinki Design Competition as a data set. The results will be exhibited in Guggenheim Helsinki Now, a forthcoming exhibition at the Kunsthalle Helsinki and used to create a digital app. All participants in the masterclass will be credited for their contributions. SPEAKERS: Troy Conrad Therrien, Curator of Architecture and Digital Initiatives, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and Hugo Liu, Principal Scientist at eBay Inc. OPEN TO: Current architecture students and recent graduates within the New York metropolitan area.
