La Cienega Boulevard (Located between Venice Blvd and Washington Blvd.) Los Angeles CA 90034 Paul Preissner is the founder of Qua’Virarch, an award-winning practice established in Chicago in 2004. In 2006 he was awarded the 2nd prize in the competition to design the Korean Pre-History Museum. The work of Qua’Virarch takes its cues from comic sensibilities and focuses on issues of shape, character, and outward projection of atmosphere to create new audiences for architecture. His work has been shown internationally, including exhibitions at the Rotterdam Biennale, Beijing Biennale and the Art Institute of Chicago. His writing and design work has been widely published in magazines and journals including Architectural Record, Surface, Volume, ARCHIWORLD, SPACE, and Prophecy. He has been a member of the design faculty at SCI-Arc, served as the visiting Hyde Chair to the University of Nebraska and a visiting artist at the Art Institute of Chicago, and currently lives and works in Chicago, where he is an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to establishing Qua’Virarch, he was a senior designer in the office of Peter Eisenman.
