The Taipei Economic & Cultural Office Education Division in New York and 31 Taiwanese architecture designers from Greater New York area are hosting the second year of the Young Taiwanese Architects Exhibition in New York. The opening event will be held at 13:00 on January 24th at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York and will remain open until February 7th, 2016. This is the second time the Young Taiwanese Architects Exhibition is held since last year. The theme of this year is “Scope”. This theme looks at this young generation on how the mindset of these designers reflects the roots of Taiwan and what they have learned and experienced in the city of New York. 2016 Young Taiwanese Architecture Exhibition in New York showcases works of 29 designers originally from Taiwan. This event is host by Charlin Chang (Taipei Economic & Cultural Office Education Division), coordinated by Yen-Hsi Tung, Hsing-O Chiang, and Peter Liu, including the head of public relations, Yi-Chen Li, head of Graphic/Word Processing and Promoting Jim Yang, and the head of Activities, Chi-Hsuan Wang, The exhibition theme is “Scope”, as a matter to discover, to explore the new territory. Scope is an instrument for observation. Because scope exists, scientists made humanity evolve. There are also scopes for architects. The scope exists in architects’ minds, thus the world is ever improving. Hence, we redefine scope as an imagination evoking medium. Come see through this scope and your imagination at this spectacular show exhibiting 29 projects designed by 29 young architectural professionals from Taiwan. Event The opening event will feature guest speakers Michael Speaks (Dean of the School of Architecture - Syracuse University), Michael Su (Visiting Professor at the School of Architecture - Pratt Institute), and Jeff Hou (Professor and Chair of Department of Landscape Architecture - University of Washington), who will share their experiences and discuss their own personal architectural identities, and “scope”.
