The home tour will include The 99K House and a zero-energy house by the Rice Solar Decathlon team. More info + house pics are on the RDA website. At a recent RDA Civic Forum, Rice University sociologist Stephen Klineberg stated that “Our children will not have bigger houses, or faster cars, but they will live richer lives.†In Houston, where McMansions reign and Hummers patrol, living small is not yet the norm, but it is a growing trend. The 2009 RDA Architecture Tour will highlight innovative examples of small houses, under 2,000 square feet. The tour is open only to RDA members or guests. RDA Memberships beginning at $45 can be purchased in advance at the RDA office, by clicking here, or at select locations on the tour and include a complimentary tour ticket (Household level and higher include two complimentary tickets). For additional tickets, please call our office at 713-348-4876. Tickets to tour all houses are $25; $15 for students (ID required) and senior citizens (65 years and older).
