The Rio Reimagined 2018 Ideas Competition

The Rio Reimagined Ideas Competition was created to summon and celebrate revelatory observations and big imaginative ideas with the hope of strengthening connections between the eight communities that directly share the Rio Salado. The AIA Phoenix Metro Chapter calls on all placemakers — architects, urban planners, landscape architects, developers, and community leaders — to submit visionary proposals that would help restore the river’s natural ecosystem and spur economic vitality.
European Velo Stops

Submission Deadline: Monday, Nov 12, 2018
Participants are tasked with creating subtle and intriguing designs for rest stop cabins that can be located along the length of the EuroVelo 6 cycle path. The cabins should reflect the European identity, with a design aesthetic that could become iconic in its own right.
WASTE: MULTI-PURPOSE STADIUM

Competition entrants will design a mixed residence development on one of the last undeveloped sections of Mumbai’s coastline. Entrants will design for both the indigenous fishing community that has occupied the site for hundreds of years - as well as a new demographic drawn to the affluent neighborhood that now encompasses the site.
WHAT IS A HOTEL? - SWITCH

The aim of this competition is to question the very notion of a hotel and confront the stereotypes and conventions of this building typology. This is an idea competition where the participants are free to create their own vision for a hotel that could be manifested in the form of architecture, art, system, poetry, product etc.
