Call for Submissions: Convergence Center For Engineering and Applied Science International Design Competition
Register/Submit Deadline: Sunday, Jun 30, 2019 (Stage I)
The EU TUMO Convergence Center for Engineering and Applied Science will be a mixed-use campus bringing together academia and industry, linking local students, researchers and technologists to each other and with their global peers, and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. The project site is a 15,000 sqm plot perched on top of the Hrazdan river gorge in Yerevan, Armenia. Stage I calls for Expressions of Interest. Three shortlisted firms for Stage II will be announced on July 12.
Future Place 2019: open call for architects

The Future Place program - run by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), Local Government Association (LGA), Homes England and Royal Town Planning Institute(RTPI) - is a joint, two-phase initiative which will unlock placemaking potential at local level through quality in design, future thinking, and knowledge sharing. The RIBA are holding an open call for RIBA members and Chartered Practices to work together with the local authorities on these visions.
A Pier in the Lake

Following the tradition of artists and architects of the last decades, the challenge is to design a hybrid system able to explore new ways of living at Tirana's Farka Lake and, at the same time, to save it from the uncontrollable growth that it is facing today due to economic reasons. Architecture, design, and art should act as ‘guardians of the lake’. Participants are engaged to imagine a new Pier in the Liqeni i Farkës.
Macau [ Morphosis ]
Final Registration/Submission Deadline: Monday, Sep 9, 2019
Tourism and the gaming industry are vital to Macau’s growth but the city and its people suffer when lands are continuously given away to casino operators for future developments. The debate is whether Macau can continue to be a liveable city with such deficit and lack in social spaces. We seek proposals and designs of an alternative form of social and entertainment architecture that diverges from the existing gambling culture. Early bird registration closes on July 10.
Laka Competition 2020 "Architecture that Reacts"

The subject of the competition is architectural, urban, technological, or product design that is capable of dynamic interaction with its social, natural, or built surroundings. The main focus of the competition is on solutions developed through a process of changes and adjustments. The winner for 2020 and the laureates of the main prizes will be awarded additional cash prizes and invited to present their projects during the ‘Architecture in Foyer 2020’ conference at the Solarlux Campus (Melle, Germany).
