The challenge is to design a temporary, freestanding, transportable and contemporary showcase Pavilion to be installed in the Museum Gardens based on the year’s Triumph Pavilion theme of "Discovery", hence the Pavilion will be entitled "Discovery Pavilion".
It a theme that focuses on triggering an inquisitive spirit in finding out more, learning how, realisation how, detecting how and why, determinating why, revealing and disclosing elements of the concept, form and relation to space.
The structure should engage and require visitors to participant in the processes of discovery:
. Interrogation - asking questions.
. Disclosure - request certain actions from partcipants to get a response.
. Confirmation - confirm facts of the concept and satistfy participants curiosity.
Through this process of engagement and discovery, the visitor should become aware of something about the architecture, aspects of the gardens that they previously had not noticed or did not know.
The architect or design team to be granted the honour of designing the 2020 Triumph Pavilion will be selected through a deliberation process by an internal selection panel. The winning design proposal will be one that is perceived to most satisfy the brief and is befitting of the Museum Gardens. And the Pavilion design should also be inclusive, highlight and encourage the need for ecological and sustainable design principles where possible.
