Development of Public Seating

Public space is one of the most common places for people's activities in life, so appropriate public facilities play a vital role in the quality of public space and urban life. As a common facility in public space, public seating greatly affects the quality of outdoor activities. The quality and creativity of the design will directly affect how public spaces impress us.

A large number of public seating throughout history has affected the nature of outdoor activities, the quality of social interaction, and the closeness of people to their environment in unique ways. When better public seating forms are designed, more and more people can spend time outdoors, thus increasing the closeness of the community, as well as the comfort and vitality of the city.

No matter the 14th century for "dramatic or judicial purposes", or the carved wooden and iron garden chairs that emerged in the 19th century, were extremely low in comfort. Even for a time in the 20th century, public seating was designed with deliberately uncomfortable elements to remind "people to maintain their posture and not lean back on the chair."

In today's society, more and more public seating appears in the public view, and the production demand increases accordingly. In order to shorten production time and improve work efficiency, most of the public seating is designed in the same and boarding way, which cannot meet the needs of increasingly diversified social activities and the use of space functions.

But do these kinds of seating satisfy you as a designer?

In order to pursue a higher quality of life while satisfying the physical needs

but also to meet psychological needs, and express personality

the public seating with more diverse functions appeared.

Create Communication with Seating

Represent Street Color by Seating
