Gaudi La Coma Artists’ Residences

Registration Deadline:  Friday, Nov 4, 20221:25 AMBST

Submission Deadline:  Friday, Dec 9, 20221:25 AMBST

Antoni Gaudi is probably Barcelona’s most famous and most beloved architect. His work can be found all over the city as he designed some of the world’s most recognised landmarks, including the Sagrada Família which he sadly never saw completed.

Inspired by nature and determined to support local communities, Gaudi was an architectural revolutionary. Gaudi’s design principles were far ahead of his time, incorporating sustainability and social impact into his projects a hundred years before most people realized how important they would become.

The Gaudi La Coma Artists’ Residences is the first in a series of design competitions run in partnership with the Gaudi Knowledge Association and Inngenium Lab to celebrate Gaudi’s intellectual heritage.

For this competition participants are asked to submit designs for a sustainable artists residence and education complex called “La Coma”. It will be located in Huesca, Spain and would need to follow Antoni Gaudi’s design values and principles of sustainability, functionality, aesthetics and innovation.

The jury are looking for designs that have the potential to become an iconic landmark while still remaining sensitive to the natural surroundings.

PRIZES

3 winning proposals, 3 special award recipients and 6 honourable mentions will be selected. Buildner (formerly Bee Breeders) will award a total of 10,000 € in prize money to competition winners as follows:

1st Prize - 4,000 €
2nd Prize - 2,500 €
3rd Prize - 1,000 €
