The primary objective of this competition is to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the history of architecture. Participants are tasked with illuminating the significance of timeless edifices, whether they be ancient wonders, classical masterpieces, and how they have shaped societies, cultures, and the very fabric of human experience.

ESSAY GUIDELINES

Essay Structuring:

Participants are expected to adhere to the following structure in their essays:

• Clearly state the thesis or main argument.

• Provide a comprehensive historical background of the selected edifice.

• Explore the cultural, social, and political climate during its construction.

• Analyze the stylistic influences and any groundbreaking features.

1. Cultural Significance:

• Examine the edifice's impact on the culture and identity of the society it belongs to.

• Discuss how it reflects or shapes cultural values, rituals, and traditions.

• Investigate the edifice's continued relevance and influence over time.

• Explore its adaptation or reinterpretation in contemporary architecture.

1. Conclusion:

• Summarize key points and restate the essay's significance.

EIGIBILITY

The competition is open to architects, designers, artists, and creative thinkers from around the world. Participants can enter as individuals or in teams (max. 4 members in one team).
