From Dreams to Rail-ity: Ideas Competition to Re-purpose Former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station in Singapore

How will you re-imagine the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (TPRS) in Singapore as a unique heritage and recreational node along the Rail Corridor?

The TPRS used to operate as the southernmost terminus on the West Coast Rail Line of the Keratapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) railway, which has since been transformed into the 24km long Rail Corridor in Singapore. While it has ceased operations, the TPRS has been gazetted as a National Monument and remains the key southern gateway into the Rail Corridor and point of entry to the Central Business District and future Greater Southern Waterfront.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore has launched an ideas competition to hear your ideas on how the TPRS can be transformed into a vibrant and multi-functional community building, with inviting public spaces for all to appreciate the unique heritage of the site. This will help to guide the formulation of plans and actions to re-purpose TPRS to serve the community in its next stage of development.

The competition area spans over 6.4ha, and includes the main TPRS building and platforms, the open spaces flanking the building and platforms, as well as 2 signal cabins along the Rail Corridor.

1st Prize : S$6,500

2nd Prize: S$4,500

3rd Prize : S$3,500

Honorary mentions will also be awarded to submissions of a high quality, with the number of honorary mentions depending on the quality of submissions received.
