LFA2008 is an opportunity for individuals, design practices, companies and organisations to celebrate the built environment in London and their contribution to it. We are seeking submissions of interest for exhibitions, installations, talks, walks, cycle rides, events, parties and more to form part of the Festival.
All ideas should respond to the Festival theme of FRESH!. The Festival’s core programme will explore five interpretations of this theme: FRESH Air, FRESH Food, FRESH Talent, FRESH Thinking, and FRESH Approach; submitters are encouraged though not obliged to consider these strands in their proposals.
All ideas should be capable of sitting within one of the five Hubs [link to maps page], or across them all. LFA2008 encourages cross-disciplinary collaborations that produce innovative projects that engage the public’s imagination, as well as projects that demonstrate planned or proposed improvement to the public realm.
LFA2008 Local Advisory Groups will consider all proposals, with successful events becoming part of the official LFA2008 programme, promoted in literature, online and in press and marketing campaigns. Successful teams will also receive access to the organisers’ section of the website, which will include advice, key contacts and access to the LFA2008 clash diary.
All events must be self-funded or sponsored and a registration fee of £500 will be payable to cover support and promotion. A limited number of grants will be available to offset the registration fees of projects that the Local Advisory Groups deem to be particularly worthy, based upon merit and demonstrated financial need.
LFA2008 will provide contacts to main local authority departments, but it will be each event organiser’s responsibility to ensure that the project complies with all planning, licensing, and health and safety regulations.
Initial proposals should be submitted via this website no later than 30 November 2007. Proposals will be evaluated on a rolling basis, with applicants notified of final decisions by 18 January 2008.
