Architects for Health 2008 Student Health Design Award

Register/Submit Deadline:  Saturday, Aug 2, 20086:55 AMEDT

ENTRANCE CRITERIA:
* Any student architectural project concerning healthcare design (Acute, primary, continuing, social, mental health, or other approved by the judging panel)
* By students who are presently studying or having completed their studies within 18 months of submission date.
* Open to students worldwide
* Submission electronically to [email protected] by 1st August 2008
* Projects submitted last year are not eligible

SUBMISSION MATERIALS (failure to follow guide may result in elimination from competition):
* Separate 300-600 word document (in English, PDF/MSWord format) describing the design brief and the proposal/design response
* 4 number A3 PDF or JPG graphics (Text and Images @ 300 dpi)
* Please clearly state your name and project title and institution on every submission page
* Within the brief include the stage of studies (e.g. RIBA part 1, RIBA part 2 or equivalent) at which the project was completed

JUDGING CRITERIA:
The judging panel will moderate entries to a short list by testing the proposal against the brief submitted as well as best practices and innovation and the treatment of the environment for patients, visitors and staff. The event evening, on 15th August 2008 at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), will involve a judging panel deliberating and deciding on an eventual winner of the award after a short presentation of the short-listed entries and some question and answers.

PRIZES:
* Prize fund for winning and runner up projects
* Presentation evening at the RIBA (All short-listed to be presented by author or selected representative)
* Publication in a wide range of leading industry and design publications
* A follow-up exhibition will travel to various events and architecture centres after the award ceremony (TBC)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
* Details of Panel Award Ceremony to be published prior to event but will include architects and academics of international acclaim
* Drinks and Refreshments provided
* 2 of last years entries including the winner were subsequently successful at the Japanese GUPHA awards
* Students or institutions please contact AfH to obtain sample briefs if required
* Please contact AfH to discuss hosting the travelling exhibition subsequently
