The Houston Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects Innovative Design Solutions competition is focused on showcasing creative design solutions by under-represented participants in the field of design in both the built and un-built environment. Through the generous and sustained support of HNOMA partners and sponsors, the 2009 HNOMA IDC hopes to create excitement and debate related to the role these young professionals can play in the future of the design profession and the built environment.
HNOMA is seeking students, interns and young architects to submit work that best demonstrates innovative design solutions to challenges put before them on past projects. These challenges can be in the form of assignments from professors or a project in an architectural office. The participant must have played a major role in developing an innovative design solution to resolve the program. The top projects selected by the HNOMA Advisory Committee will be placed on display at the Texas Society of Architects/AIA 70th Annual Convention to be held in Houston, TX at the George R. Brown Convention Center on October 22-24, 2009. Submissions can be built or un-built in any area in the field of architecture including but not limited to residential, educational, religious, etc.
