Build Out Alliance - Build Your Career Workshop

Build Out Alliance, a 501(c)(3) organization serving the LGBTQ community in the building design and construction industries, invites you to our Build Your Career Workshop. We invite current students, recent graduates, and young professionals to join us for a day of resume and portfolio review, mock interviews, and a chance to speak to and network with professionals from the building design industry.

Who - Current students, recent graduates, and young professionals are welcome!

What - The day will begin with a presentation and panel discussion led by Human Resources professionals from leading AEC firms, with a focus on how to prepare effective and compelling interview materials, such as resumes and portfolios. Examples will be provided to help avoid many common pitfalls and address any questions. After lunch, attendees will be broken down into smaller groups to focus on resume and portfolio review, and mock interview sessions. Please bring four (4) copies of your current resume and a good attitude. For architecture students, pleas also bring your portfolio and a selected project to discuss during your mock interview. If your portfolio is digital, please also bring a tablet.

Why - Learn how to craft the perfect resume and portfolio by looking at what should (and should not) be included. Find out how to capture your unique personality and design experience through a portfolio. Engage with human resource professionals and design professionals. Learn what it takes to get your career off to a great start!
