DxD Block Party 2024: Helen Liu Fong Day - FREE!

Please join us for Design by Diversity Day 2024 on Saturday, April 13th!

Are you looking for a FREE family-focused event with activities, games, and free food? Do you want to share your design perspective with kids? Would you like to ignite their passion for architecture and design? 

DxD Block Party: Helen Liu Fong Day is an annual free public event that connects hundreds of students of all ages with local architecture, design, engineering, and construction professionals. This year’s event will be hosted by East Los Angeles College (1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez, Monterey Park, California 91754) on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 9 am to 2 pm.

All elementary, middle, and high school students, families, educators, professionals, and community members interested in architecture, design, engineering, and construction are welcome to attend. The day-long event, organized by Architecture for Communities Los Angeles (ACLA), will include hands-on activities and information booths hosted by local firms, area colleges and universities, and community organizations. It will also include mentoring sessions, keynote speakers, and free food. 

This year, we have the honor of celebrating Helen Liu Fong, a true pioneer in the field of architecture. As a female Chinese American architect in a male-dominated profession, she forged paths and had a significant influence in popularizing Googie architecture in the '50s and '60s. We invite you to come and learn more about Helen at the Block Party!
