Boliglaboratorium: A Danish Housing Lab

Saturday, Jul 5, 202510 AM — Sunday, Aug 31, 20255 PMCST

Chicago Cultural Center, 78 East Washington Street. Chicago, IL 60602 Chicago, IL, US Chicago, IL, US | Chicago Cultural Center, 78 East Washington Street. Chicago, IL 60602

The Chicago Architecture Biennial and MAS Context present the exhibition Boliglaboratorium: A Danish Housing Lab featuring six groundbreaking Danish architectural projects. The exhibition will take place at the CAB Studio inside the Chicago Cultural Center (78 East Washington Street. Chicago, IL 60602).

Boliglaboratorium: A Danish Housing Lab, an exhibition curated by Nord Architects, is a joint initiative of the Danish Arts Foundation and Realdania. The US premiere of the exhibition is presented by Scan Design Foundation, whose mission is to support the cross-cultural exchange between Denmark and the US, in partnership with the Embassy of Denmark in Washington DC.

How do we create housing that addresses some of the greatest challenges of our time? This question forms the basis for Boliglaboratorium: A Danish Housing Lab. Six groundbreaking Danish architectural projects are exhibited to explore how housing can respond to the current climate crisis, future urban challenges, shifting family patterns and new ways of living. Common to all of them is that they will be realized as full-scale housing experiments in Denmark.

The Danish examples offer models that can help new housing better fit into our neighborhoods through design excellence and a wider set of residential typologies.
