On May 15, join We Were Here: Absence of the Figure exhibition curator, Alyssa Cordova, in conversation with exhibition artists Tom LaDuke, George Stoll, and Amir Zaki.
Open now through July 10, 2016, the We Were Here exhibition highlights works from the Orange County Museum of Art’s permanent collection, with a focus on recent acquisitions. The exhibition explores the persistence of the human presence in place and time through contemporary interpretations of landscape, object, and environment. While the human figure is notably absent, these selected works trace and document existence, whether it be the ecological impact and human footprint of man-made materials as in Jedediah Caesar’s Helium Brick, Uta Barth’s transformation of the mundane through beautiful photographic abstractions of everyday home interiors, or the isolation of Robert Olsen’s hauntingly serene bus shelters.
Artists featured in this exhibition include: Uta Barth, Matt Booth, Stephen Brower, Jedediah Caesar, Gianfranco Foschino, Anthony Hernandez, Jeremy Kidd, Tom LaDuke, Robert Olsen, Eric Orr, George Stoll, and Amir Zaki.
