Model Behavior: Snøhetta’s First Concepts for SFMOMA

Saturday, May 14, 201610 AM — Monday, Jan 16, 20175 PMPDT

SFMOMA, 151 Third Street San Francisco, CA, US San Francisco, CA, US | SFMOMA, 151 Third Street

As a practice, Snøhetta architects begin each project by identifying a set of conditions inherent to the site — not merely its physical setting, but also its cultural context — with the goal of designing spaces that frame a condition, direct attention, and provide a deliberate experience. The more than fifty sketch models and five sketchbooks on view offer perspective on the design process behind the SFMOMA expansion, and a mobile app explores the museum’s built architecture, with a narrated walk-through of key design decisions in the new SFMOMA.
