Sarah Graham: Work

Operating between Los Angeles and Zürich, cities that might be considered as opposites within the Western world, different perspectives can be seen on all aspects of architecture from urbanism to sustainability, from land use to spatial awareness, and from construction to materials use. When viewed from a multi-cultural perspective, however, possibilities abound. It is the bridging of these cultures and her resulting work on both continents that Sarah Graham will discuss in her lecture. Sarah Graham is a principal of agps architecture, a multidisciplinary team in Los Angeles and Zürich, Switzerland, bridging the realms of infrastructure, architecture and landscape. Their work has received international design awards and has been published, and exhibited worldwide. Projects include the Midfield Terminal at the Zürich International Airport; adidas World Headquarters in Hergogenaurach, Germany; Children’s Museum of Los Angeles; and the Portland Aerial Tram. Sustainable design is a common focus throughout the work. Sarah holds a B.A. from Stanford University and a Masters of Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She has been a visiting and adjunct assistant professor at the University of Southern California School of Architecture as well as a visiting professor at the Rhode Island School of Design, the Harvard GSD and the University of California, Berkeley. Lectures are free and open to the public. They are located in the Gin D. Wong, FAIA Conference Center, Harris Hall, on the University Park campus. No reservations are required.
