The Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) represents the unique professional interests of interior design educators in the United States and worldwide. IDEC provides forums for sharing innovative strategies for interior design education, expressing a range of views on important issues, and disseminating research findings. Members of IDEC educate individuals, families, fellow professionals, and students, and influence policy makers about the interior design profession. Educators as Intentional Leaders Series We have a special opportunity to consider Educators as Intentional Leaders within our conference theme of Design with Intelligence. Three events at the conference will build on the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) world-wide Think Tanks. In over 50 sessions, IFI had participants address the interior design profession’s Identity, Relevance, Value, and Responsibility. The outcome of the Think Tanks is a series of White Papers. These White Papers will be the foundation of a 2011 global IFI Summit, Design Frontiers: The Interiors Entity, where recommendations will be made for moving the discipline forward. At the 2011 IDEC Annual Conference, a three-part series of events provide IDEC members with an opportunity to tackle IFI’s recommendations and become intentional leaders. To quote Shasi Caan, IFI President and Kick-Off speaker, this is our chance to lead the effort to “reposition the Interiors discipline on the world stage.” You won’t want to miss it! IDEC2011
