sLAB Costa Rica Presentation + Fundraiser

Help us help Nosara! Join Tobias Holler of Holler Architecture & his students from New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) on 12/10 from 6-8pm at Axor NYC Design Studio. The NYIT team has been designing and building a recycling and education center in Nosara, Costa Rica to help w/ the local waste management problem. They're organizing a fundraising campaign to be able to return to Nosara in January 2013 to help finish the construction of the project, and the documentary film about it. To jumpstart an under-funded communal recycling center project in rural Costa Rica, sLAB organized an NYIT-wide student design-build competition featuring an innovative online-voting process on Facebook, reaching over 43,000 people from 19 countries within one week and setting the stage for a crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter, which raised over $20,000 in 4 weeks. The project, developed in close collaboration with local community organizations and a local architect, is currently being built with the help of by NYIT student volunteers.
