International Center for Photography | Lynsey Addario and Elizabeth Rubin

Friday, 4/25/2008, 7:00–9:00pm International Center for Photography | Lynsey Addario and Elizabeth Rubin Center for Architecture, 536 LaGuardia Place Register In partnership with the Center for Architecture, the International Center for Photography will bring together photojournalist Lynsey Addario and writer Elizabeth Rubin for an evening conversation to discuss how conflict is covered in their respective fields. Addario and Rubin have worked together in Northern Iraq, Saudia Arabia, Afghanistan, and Darfur, and have completed several pieces for The New York Times Magazine. Lynsey Addario is a photojournalist based in Istanbul, Turkey, where she photographs for National Geographic, The New York Times, The NYT Magazine, Time, and Fortune, among others; recent bodies of work include women’s issues in Saudi Arabia for The New York Times, social and political coverage in Iran in 2005; and the wars in Lebanon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Afghanistan. She recently completed a series on children in countries across Africa for The New York Times and her first assignment for National Geographic Magazine on Bhutan will appear as a 26-page spread entitled “Bhutan’s Experiment” in the March 2008 issue. Elizabeth Rubin is a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine. For the last decade, she has traveled extensively writing about Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Russia, the Caucasus, the Middle East, Africa, and the Balkans. Her stories have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic Monthly, The New Republic, Harper's, and The New Yorker. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her reporting and was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.
