Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Lean is a management approach that strives to create a safer workplace, reduce costs and provide faster delivery while maintaining high quality by emphasizing collaboration and a culture of continuous improvement. For decades the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) has been at the forefront of encouraging and educating the industry about the benefits of lean methods. For these reasons, LCI has been selected to receive the Museum’s 11th Henry C. Turner Prize for Innovation in Construction. To mark the occasion, LCI co-founder Greg Howell, executive director Dan Heinemeier, and board chair Victor Sanvido will give a presentation explaining the benefits of lean and share their vision of lean’s future. Following this talk, they join a panel of property owners, designers and builders to discuss how a lean approach benefits the building industry. Panelists include: • Chris Jahrling, vice president, General Manager Federal Services, Turner Construction Company • Bill Seed, vice president, Design and Construction, Universal Health Services • Tom Sorley, CEO, Rosendin Electric • Jan Tuchman, editor in chief, Engineering News-Record (moderator) The Turner Construction Company established the Turner Prize and an endowment to support it in order to honor Henry C. Turner, who founded the company in 1902. The Prize recognizes advances or high achievement in the process of construction—an invention, an innovative methodology, and/or exemplary leadership. 1.5 LU (AIA) $12 Members; $12 Students; $20 Non-members.
