2010 Winners of the Religious Art & Architecture Awards

Honor - Religious Architecture - New Facilities: Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects, LLC (New York, NY): Bryant University Interfaith Center (Smithfield, Rhode Island)

Seven Honor Awards and eight Honorable Mentions were given at the 2010 Religious Art and Architecture Design Awards. The annual award program is co-sponsored by Faith & Form Magazine and the Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture (IFRAA), a Knowledge Community of the American Institute of Architects.

The Awards program was founded in 1978 with the goal of honoring the best in architecture, liturgical design, and art for religious spaces. The program offers three primary categories for awards: Religious Architecture, Liturgical/Interior Design, Sacred Landscape, and Religious Arts. The 2010 Religious Art and Architecture Awards Jury comprised Chas Fagan (artist); Mark Joseph Costello (liturgical designer); Cindy Evans Voorhees (clergy); Roberto Chiotti (architect); and Trey Trahan (architect and jury chair).

Following are the winning projects of the seven Honor Awards:

Honor - Religious Architecture - Renovation: Hanrahan Meyers Architects LLP (New York, NY): Infinity Chapel (New York, NY)
Honor - Religious Architecture - Restoration: Graham & Hyde Architects, Inc. (Springfield, Illinois): Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (Springfield, Illinois)
Honor - Religious Architecture - Restoration: Conrad Schmitt Studios, Inc. (New Berlin, Wisconsin): Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (Springfield, Illinois)
Honor - Religious Architecture - Unbuilt Work: HGA Architects and Engineers (Minneapolis, Minnesota): Lakewood Cemetery Garden Mausoleum (Minneapolis, Minnesota)
Honor - Liturgical/Interior Design: Butler Rogers Baskett (New York, NY): Johnson Chapel Renovation (New York, NY)
Honor - Religious Arts - Visual Arts: Bruce Herman (Gloucester, Massachusetts): “Magnificat: La Vita di Maria” (Monastery San Paolo Orvieto, Italy)
