More than three dozen projects win in 2016 Association of Licensed Architects Design Awards

From an Iowa sports complex, a Minneapolis residence, to even an unbuilt Guggenheim Helsinki entry, more than three dozen projects of various typologies won top honors in the Association of Licensed Architects' 18th annual Design Awards, which highlights exemplary design and construction. ALA President Jeff Budgell also personally selected two project entries for the 2016 President's Award of Recognition, while the 747 N. Clark St. condominium building by Sullivan, Goulette & Wilson and the Miller Hull Partnership won the Don Erickson Presidential Award — the ALA's highest accolade.

The other winners were honored with Presidential, Gold, Silver, and Merit Awards in commercial, institutional, residential, renovation, interior and unbuilt design categories. ALA Executive Director Joanne Sullivan cited this year's winners for their “exemplified innovative use of materials, exceptional detailing and simple elegance.”
