Graham Foundation awards 2017 Individual Grants to 72 projects

The Graham Foundation granted a total of $560,000 to support 72 projects by designers investigating original architectural ideas. From exhibitions to publications to live performances, the winning projects were distinguished for their potential to fuel creative experimentation and critical dialogue, advance new scholarship, and expand new opportunities for public engagement with architecture.

“Many of our grantees this year are exploring the agency of design,” Graham Foundation director Sarah Herda said in a statement. “They are testing the limits of conventional practice to make new work that directly engages the social and political dimensions of the designed environment.”

Out of almost 700 submissions from around the globe, here are this year's grantees below.
