Copenhagen-based practice COBE recently revealed the latest photos of “Halftime”. Located in the southern German town of Herzogenaurach, the project is a new multi-purpose building for the new corporate headquarters of sports brand giant Adidas. After COBE's team won Adidas' design competition for the project back in 2014, the building officially opened last October. The competition team included CLMAP, Knippers Helbig, Transsolar, and COBE Berlin.

Showing off an eye-catching rhomboid roof, the 15,500 square-meter headquarters contains a canteen, informal meeting rooms, a conference center, and a showroom where Adidas' high-profile ambassadors can check out the latest designs and ideas. COBE created a flexible architectural design to make it easier to transform and modify the building for various purposes.

The building's 8,650-square-meter rhomboid roof structure consists of V-shaped concrete beams that are 16 meters long and weigh 28 tons each. The roof is also covered in glass, with one-third of the roof made up of skylights that allows ample daylight into the interior. Achieving LEED Gold certification, the building incorporates natural materials, planted walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, and conservatories with trees and plantbeds throughout.

Employees, visitors, and brand ambassadors are given plenty of space to gather and network in the building's informal meeting rooms, workshop rooms, and an event hall for 1,500 people that was designed like a gym with old-school wall bars, COBE says. Plus, COBE teamed up with fellow Danish design brand HAY to create a custom chair for the project called the HALFTIME Chair.

“In addition to the event hall, which is designed as a gym, you can hold meetings at the bottom of a bright blue swimming pool, in a locker room or in the adidas founder Adi Dasler’s old workshop, complete with tools,” said COBE founder Dan Stubbergaard in a statement.

Hideous. Looks like a 1950s experiment in Brutalism, if not a few years earlier chapter of German history.
