In its 7th year, the Architectural Record recognizes the accomplishments and leadership of women across five categories for the 2020 Women in Architecture Awards. This year's award recipients are:
Educator: "For a professional who has helped the advancement of women in the field"
Award Winner: Monica Ponce de Leon
Activist: "For an architect who has used her skills to design for social change, to affect the public realm or to perform pro bono work."
Award Winner: Kimberly Dowdell
Design Leader: "For an architect with significant built work and influence"
Award Winner: Julie Eizenberg, FAIA
Innovator: "For an architect who has made a mark in innovative design, materials or building type"
Award Winner: Lisa Gray, FAIA
New Generation Leader: "For an architect who is rising in the profession"
Award Winner: Stella Betts
2020 has marked itself as a challenging year filled with events that not only impacted the industry but challenged it to create significant change for all. Although there is still much work to be done, each award recipient continues to dedicate their time and efforts to transforming architectural academia, leadership, and professional practice.
Due to the COVID-19, this year's awards ceremony will be held virtually on Thursday, October 29th, at 5 p.m. EDT.
