The Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania recently celebrated the honorees of this year's Weitzman Awards during an all-virtual award ceremony.

Recipient of the 2020 Kanter Tritsch Medal in Architecture is architect, educator, and theorist Peter Eisenman. "It’s hard for my work to win prizes," Eisenman said in his conversation with the school's Miller Professor and Chair of Architecture Winka Dubbeldam. "I want to thank Lori Kanter Tritsch."

The Witte-Sakamoto Family Medal was awarded to the City of Philadelphia's 2011 framework for green infrastructure, GreenPlan Philadelphia. Lisa Servon, the Kevin and Erica Penn Presidential Professor and Chair of City and Regional Planning, praised it as a "comprehensive open-space system that helped grow the Office of Sustainability and laid the foundation for many programs that are active around the city today."

Weitzman students Paul McCoy (MArch'21) and Avery Harmon (MCP'21) were presented with the 2020 Kanter Tritsch Prize in Energy and Architectural Innovation and the Witte-Sakamoto Family Prize in City and Regional Planning respectively. Both prices come with a $50,000 scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year.
