2021 FORM Student Innovation Competition
Register/Submit Deadline: Friday, Mar 12, 2021

"The 2021 FORM Student Innovation Competition invites architecture and interior design students to showcase their vision for the future by creating furniture pieces using Formica Brand products. This year's challenge asks students to submit a color rendering and project statement for a furniture design that highlights the student's vision of 'Design for the Next Generation.' Our world is changing rapidly, and creativity, flexibility and adaptation will be key in the designs of tomorrow while still delivering on style and function today."

Student Steel Bridge Competition
Register/Submit Deadline: Monday, Mar 29, 2021

"For more than 30 years, AISC’s Student Steel Bridge Competition (SSBC) has challenged student teams to develop a scale-model steel bridge that must meet the requirements and specifications for a mock design scenario. [...] Given the abrupt end to the 2020 Competition due to the COVID-19 virus, this year’s rule changes allow bridges designed for the 2020 Competition to be used in the 2021 Competition, and they do not prohibit teams from modifying their 2020 bridges or developing a completely new design as they see fit."

Breaking the Cycle: Designing for a Community Justice Centre
Register/Submit Deadline: Tuesday, Jun 15, 2021

"Community Justice Centres (CJCs) move justice away from the rigid hierarchy of the traditional courthouse into a more informal community setting. They bring together justice, health and social services for vulnerable accused people and their communities in order to provide a holistic, fair and integrated approach to the judicial process. CJCs improve outcomes by applying restorative approaches to justice that focus on addressing the root causes of the crime, repairing the harm caused to victims and the community, helping to breaking the cycle of offending and improving community safety. The Canadian Academy of Architecture for Justice (CAAJ) invites architecture students to speculate on these issues in a design competition for a new Community Justice Centre."

If you would like to contribute competitions, award programs, or calls for submissions that aren't listed on Bustler yet, send them directly to our team to review. We may include them in next week's roundup.
