Winners were drawn from the United States, Mexico, Canada, China, and, for the first time in the program's history, Russia. These projects are phenomenal. Brick has the capacity to evoke, as it expresses a time where construction was broken down to smaller components, which required more craft and care. Now our cities are made with lazy, unexpressive gestures in concrete and stucco which have no regard for scale. I recommend looking at the work of a master of brick, Rogelio Salmona.
