Eye Line 2024: call for entries
Registration/Submission Deadline: Friday, May 10, 2024
"How do you represent the world you would like to see? Eye Line 2024, RIBAJ’s annual, international competition showcasing the best drawing and rendering skills, is open for entries. As ever, we ask for images in two categories – student and practitioner – that brilliantly convey architecture, in any medium or combination of media. We are seeking the best and most exciting submissions from those at the sharp end of representation. Images of all kinds, from hand-drawn concept sketch to technically proficient and layered renders are eligible: ‘drawing’ includes any method by which the power of an architectural idea is communicated, whether depictions of existing buildings or works of the imagination. Last year saw our first AI entries."

A Gateway to Mieres
Registration/Submission Deadline: Sunday, May 12, 2024
"The University of Oviedo launches its sixth international ideas competition for students with the aim of obtaining proposals for the resolution of a problem associated with transport networks in the city, and the opportunity offered by transport infrastructures to generate landmarks and unique entrances to towns. The northern access to the city of Mieres (Spain) via the A-66 motorway is very deteriorated from an urban, aesthetic and landscape point of view, and is currently a purely functional infrastructure for road traffic that has not been effectively integrated into the city. The theme for the ideas competition thus arises: the intervention in the area around the northern access with the fundamental purpose of improving the pedestrian, cycling and landscape conditions of the surroundings, thus dignifying an urban space that should be representative of the city."

Prototype for the Future: Affordable Neighborhood Housing Solutions
Registration/Submission Deadline: Saturday, June 1, 2024
"As cities across the United States work to support affordable housing solutions, architects and designers play a pivotal role in creating safe and healthy environments. To challenge designers and communities to support family-focused housing options, this student design competition asks participants to envision how a single-family townhouse unit solution can serve as a prototype to create affordable housing options within neighborhoods. This inaugural competition is focused on the metro area of Long Beach, California where there is a large demand for affordable housing."
