Berlin Castle appropriation
Registration/Submission Deadline: Sunday,September 15, 2024
"It is time to break with the uncritical glorification of Prussia and change the external appearance of the Humboldt Forum. We are therefore inviting artists, designers and architects to submit proposals that use artistic means to visualise the repressed layers of the site and inscribe them into the façades of the Humboldt Forum. In addition to permanent, physical forms of intervention, we are also interested in temporary, performative and artistic-research works. Artistic contributions are also possible that deal with fundamental changes to the programming, governance and handling of the collections, if these proposals also emerge in the urban space; because it remains essential to question the current character of the public space through the building."

"The purpose of this award is to recognise architectural projects (including interiors, public spaces and landscaping) whose excellence enhances the ability of spaces to provide comfort to those who dwell within them. These designs improve people’s quality of life on a daily basis: while working, learning, sharing, enjoying... It’s architecture to be lived! Video, considered as the tool for bringing architecture closer to the general public and as the most suitable medium for conveying the atmosphere of the place, is the medium through which the proposals will be presented. With each edition, the quality of the audiovisual narrative of the videos submitted has reached an exceptional level professionally."
