Last week, we shared the third place entry Rolling Master Plan by Jägnefält Milton for the Norwegian master plan competition for the city of Åndalsnes; and the shared first prize entry, The Landscape Loop, by JAJA. Today, we bring you the other shared 1st place entry by Kristina Karlsson and Pauliina Koskinen Tonboe.
Kristina Karlsson and Pauliina Koskinen Tonboe received a shared first prize in the idea competition for the development of Åndalsnes in Norway. Amongst 40 proposals from all over Scandinavia. “Come to Åndalsnes” stood out with the “best master plan concept”. The jury highlights the value of the proposal treating ideas and solutions for the entire village even outside the competition area.
The project finds its inspiration in the surrounding landscape. It preserves and enhances the landscape elements by proposing new construction in areas which are today weakening the contact rock-by-sea. The project also establishes new connections, sea side promenade with activities, new harbour areas and a new housing area with canals as an attraction for new investores.
Kristina Karlsson and Pauliina Koskinen Tonboe are two architects working apart-together in Helsinki and Copenhagen. They won earlier this year a shared 3.prize (2.place) in a similar competition for devoloping the existing village and turism in "Open Ideas Competition Ylläs Villages" in Kolari, Finland (arranged by SAFA, Finnish association of Architects 2009-2010).
