d3 Natural Systems 2014 top-prize winners

Every year, d3's Natural Systems competition highlights the value of investigating natural systems -- whether at the microscopic or universal scale. Architects, designers, engineers, and students were invited to submit proposals that explore potential architectonic strategies to apply in urbanism, architecture, and design.

The jury panel of architects and designers included Sandra McKee, Yoshihara McKee Architects, Fordham University, and Columbia University; Ian Y. Jeong, HAAK Architects; Sebastienne Brown, Fordham University and New York University; Jaeyoung Kim, Chelsea West Architects/New York; Alana Aviel, University of Hawaii, and Silva Ajemian, TODODA/New York and New Jersey Institute of Technology
