Pellegrini+Stereotank's finalist pavilion entry for the 2014 Iberoamerican Bienal in Argentina

Argentinean architect Federico Pellegrini and New York-based Stereotank collaborated on their entry for a temporary pavilion competition from the upcoming Iberoamerican Bienal of Architecture and Urbanism (BIAU) in Rosario, Argentina this October. The team was shortlisted as a finalist in the competition.

Relevant to the BIAU's mission to promote multi-faceted discussion of architecture and urbanism in Latin America, this central pavilion would serve as a communal and event space during the Bienal.

Project summary:

"The proposal is the result of an in-depth analysis of Latin America’s current scene, understood as a complex net of limitations and opportunities where the innovative use of resources appears to be the only rational solution. 

Using the future water tanks of social housing complexes promoted by the local government, the temporary pavilion is a stop of the tanks on their way from the factory to their final destination and purpose.

The project aims for a higher goal than being just an iconic multipurpose space for the Biennale, re-addressing existing 'needs' rather than 'adding' new production. The sustainable and community oriented aspect of the project is key for a resilient and contemporary design."
