CLOG Exhibition "New Views: The Rendered Image in Architecture" at the Art Institute of Chicago

If you find yourself in Chicago over the next few months, don't miss to check out New Views: The Rendered Image in Architecture, an exciting exhibition that CLOG just opened at the Art Institute of Chicago. CLOG was asked by the museum to curate an exhibition about the publication's fourth issue, CLOG : Rendering, which was published last August.

For the exhibition, which will be on view until January 5, 2014, CLOG took a closer look at specifically how the increased use of digital imagery in architectural practice is influencing the collecting of architectural works for museums. The curators spoke with 19 different institutions around the world about if this has affected the way they "collect" architecture. In other words, as hand-drawn sketches are being replaced with digital images in practice, are museums also starting to collect digital works? This of course comes with its own implications in archiving such works, and what the collectible value is of images that can be reproduced.

The exhibition also shows the work of 15 different architects and renderers, with a total of 60 images, by firms such as Zaha Hadid Architects, Bjarke Ingels Group, Luxigon, Mir, and Greg Lynn. CLOG also commissioned Luxigon to do a new rendering, of the gallery space itself.
