In celebration of Earth Day, the AIA and the Committee on the Environment (COTE) announced the Top Ten Green Projects for 2019. From a community-friendly trash dump inĀ Seattle, to an energy-efficient retrofitting of a Cathedral in New York, these projects demonstrate sustainable design excellence throughout the U.S.

The five-member jury selected projects by firms like Payette, NADAAA, Mahlum, and others, while Bohlin Cywinski Jackson won the COTE Top Ten Plus honor for the Frick Environmental Center in Pittsburgh. All conveyed a thoroughly integrated approach to architecture, natural systems and technology, as well as positive community impact, improving comfort for building occupants, and design strategies used to reduce environmental impact.
