(Non)-Winners Announced for ThyssenKrupp Elevator Architecture Award 2008-2009

As many of our readers know, the winners were recently announced for the ThyssenKrupp Elevator Award 2008-09, and the results have proven to be quite controversial. 

To try to provide some more context, we’ve asked those of you who participated in this competition to share your proposals, to see what projects were not recognized by the jury.  We’ve posted the submissions we’ve received so far below, in this article. Bustler reader Chino Colorin made an interesting observation regarding Fernando Donis’ competition winning “Dubai Frame” proposal: “...where the idea of the winning scheme was to frame Dubai, it’s important to note the orientation and location of the frame relative to the city. So, what’s represented in the one and only view through the frame is fictional, so the question is what exactly is being framed?”
