Esa Ruskeepää Architects from Helsinki was selected to design the new Bildungshaus library and educational center in the city of Wolfsburg, Germany. Out of 112 proposals in the two-stage competition, 34-year-old Esa Ruskeepää was the youngest architect in the final shortlisted group for the project.

Project description:
"The Bildungshaus will consist of a new public library, media center, high school and adult education centre with a floor area of 16,500 square meters. The building site is located at the south access to the city and in the vicinity of the Wolfsburg Cultural Centre (Alvar Aalto 1962) and Wolfsburg City Theatre (Hans Scharoun 1973). The design includes a variety of educational outdoor spaces."
"The extraordinary plantation project is made by Tita Giese from Düsseldorf. The landscape architect is Harald Fugmann from Berlin. Energy concept, structural concept and technical installations are designed by Arup from Berlin."
