By Hope Daley|

Friday, May 4, 2018

A new graffiti and street art exhibition titled BEYOND THE STREETS will open to the public in Los Angeles May 6, 2018. Celebrating variations within the medium, the exhibition will showcase paintings, sculptures, photography, and installations throughout industrial indoor and outdoor space expanding 40,000+ square feet.

'Art in the Streets' installation at the MoCA Geffen in Los Angeles, 2011.

The show is curated by graffiti historian, urban anthropologist, and collector Roger Gastman, who has connected the gap between street art and the art world. BEYOND THE STREETS  is Gastman’s follow-up exhibition to Art in the Streets, a graffiti and street art retrospective held in In 2011 at Los Angeles' MoCA (Museum of Contemporary Art). Art in the Streets was the most attended show in the museum's history, with over 200,000 plus visitors to the museum's 40,000 square foot Geffen Contemporary space.

The exhibition is also curated by Editor in Chief of Juxtapoz Magazine Evan Pricco, author and historian Caleb Neelon, and legendary NYC graffiti writer and historian David "Chino" Villorente. Adam Lerner, Director of the MCA Denver serves as a curatorial advisor with Ian Mazie as producer.
