CODE announces the winners of Wine Mythology competition

By Mackenzie Goldberg|

Thursday, May 11, 2017

Wine, the nectar of the gods, comes from an ancestral tradition of centuries-old practices, innovation and discovery. Hence, it is not by chance that Cantina Valpolicella Negrar, a leading wine-producer company in Italy, chose Ulysses as the symbol of its philosophy and mission. Homero's hero perfectly embodies winery's deep bond with tradition and strong spirit of enterprise alike.

Organized by CODE-Competitions for Designers, Wine Mythology Label was much more than a project of packaging because this competition aimed at the visual translation of the company's values. Creative minds had to forge the images of one of the most famous Italian wines worldwide: the Amarone. Hundreds of designers took up this challenge and submitted valuable proposals for a label that is going to embellish an exclusive collection of Amarone wine. The jury, that gathered outstanding personalities in the design and illustration fields like David Carson and Sawdust, rewarded 51 projects in total: the first-classified label received a money prize of  €5,000 and will be printed for a collection of Amarone wine; the second prize received  €2,000; the third prize  €1,000 and 4 gold mentions were awarded  €500 each. Ten honorable mentions and 30 finalist mentions follow up.
