BRIEF

Villa Sorra is situated in the heart of the countryside of Emilia. It is surrounded by trails of fog wounding their way through the morning light and the checkerboard created by peasants’ hard work. It is a pleasant and almost enchanted place. It is a gem that tells a story made by peculiar legends, protected animals and grapes that become world-renowned Made in Italy excellences: the Tortellino, the Balsamic Vinegar and the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.

The inestimable historical, cultural and environmental value of such significant complex placidly lies in its rows and vegetation. It is surrounded by a precious garden being the most representative example of nineteenth-century romantic gardens. Here, the water of the lake reflects wells, caves and statues. Villa Sorra breathes Italy. In the villa one can enjoy raw materials and their processing. One can go back in time thanks to the villa’s lemon house and stables. Here one can live the “life in the villa” in an elegant place that will become the cradle of a unique experiment.

The municipality of Castelfranco Emilia is pleased to present the project “Villa Sorra. Saperi e Sapori” (Villa Sorra. Knowledge and Taste). This is a high-level integrated and multifunctional center fostering to enhance, innovate, teach and culturally promote the agriculture and food and wine of the future.

The initiative aims to provide adequate conditions to set up a significant system for an area where the agri-food and food and wine sectors play a crucial role both locally and nationally. This restoration and enhancement process intends to create an unprecedented combination of production, cultural and landscape components. Such elements have strong ties that have been consolidating over time. Now they are a heritage to spread and maintain.

The project will both preserve and innovate. It will promote cultural, didactic and tourist activities working hand in hand with numerous local associations, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the high school Istituto di Istruzione Superiore per l’agricoltura e l’ambiente “Lazzaro Spallanzani”.

Not only will the municipality of Castelfranco Emilia collaborate with several players in order to achieve this ambitious goal. It will also ask graphic designers and creative talents willing to face this challenge to create the future official image of “Villa Sorra. Saperi e Sapori”.

The logo creation is a mirror. It is a symbol that will show the values of the area of Emilia and Italy to the world. It will be the business card that will be imprinted in people’s memory. It will create a sense of awareness and belonging.
