Kemeri National Park is one of Latvia’s national treasures, full to to the brim of animals and plant life; some of which exists in few other places in the world. A haven for birdwatchers and hikers, the park is long overdue for recognition as a national landmark.
The Great Kemeri Bog Visitor Center architecture competition is searching for designs for an iconic entrance point to the park, one that provides several key facilities - such as an information centre, terrace area, and playground, as well as a car park and ticket booth.
This is a chance for architecture enthusiasts to design something iconic, with the potential to become a noted landmark, all within the stunning natural surroundings of the national park. It is therefore vital that the structure be in keeping with its surroundings, while at the same time standing out.
The Kemeri National Park Observation Tower architecture competition is now open until October 12. Winning designs will be put forward for consideration for construction by the Latvia Nature Conservation Agency, as well as receiving US $6,000 in prize funds.
