Apply now to the second Knight Cities Challenge! Deadline is Oct. 27

By Bustler Editors|

Monday, Oct 19, 2015

Following a successful first edition, the Knight Foundation is accepting applications for the next Knight Cities Challenge until October 27, 2015. The initiative is seeking a fresh set of strong ideas that will revive the 26 Knight-invested communities into vibrant places for living and working. No project is too small, just as long as the idea is big!

The winners will share from a prize pool of US$5 million to launch their projects. The Foundation will grant funds at all levels from small to large amounts.

Scroll down for more.

To submit, here are the rules:

  1. A submission may come from anywhere but the project must take place in or benefit one or more of 26 Knight communities.
  2. Your idea should focus on one or all of three key drivers of city success: attracting and retaining talent; expanding economic opportunity; and creating a culture of civic engagement.

The challenge is open to anyone: architects, activists, artists, city planners, entrepreneurs, students, educators, city officials, as well as governments and organizations. Applications are open until noon (Eastern Time) on October 27, 2015. The Knight Foundation will announce finalists and winners in early 2016.
