LafargeHolcim Awards Postpones Prize Announcements to 2021

Thursday, May 7, 2020

LafargeHolcim Awards 2017 for Middle East Africa prize handover ceremony, Nairobi LafargeHolcim Awards Gold 2017 Middle East Africa winners for Religious and secular complex, Dandaji, Niger (l-r): Iranian architect Yasaman Esmaili and Nigerien architect M

The LafargeHolcim Foundation has decided to postpone the regional prize hand-over events until next year, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Awards juries in five regions of the world (Europe, North America, Latin America, Middle East & Africa, and Asia Pacific) select the competition winners using the “target issues” for sustainable construction. Each regional jury will go ahead as a virtual panel and consists of independent, renowned representatives from science, business and society that were to meet in person.

The Project Contact of short-listed projects will be contacted following the jury meeting of the respective region to complete the project verification process. The prize allocated will not be disclosed until the prizes are handed over in 2021.

This 5-minute video by Edward Schwarz, General Manager of the LafargeHolcim Foundation explains how the Awards competition schedule has been adapted.

The regional Awards juries will go ahead as virtual meetings with the same experts instead of meeting in person – results of the competition will be announced in 2021.
