In celebration of their upcoming “Urus” project in 2018, Automobili Lamborghini wanted to commemorate the event with not only one, but two new monuments to be built in front of their company headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese. The luxury brand looked to architects and designers worldwide to envision these installations in the Lamborghini Road Monument competition, in partnership with Young Architects Competitions. The jury included figures like Patrik Schumacher (Zaha Hadid Architects), Fabio Novembre (Studio Novembre), Stefano Domenicali (Automobili Lamborghini), Yama Karim (Studio Libeskind), and Nicola Scaranaro (Foster + Partners), to name a few.
Participants were tasked with creating a design inspired by Lamborghini's House of the Raging Bull and “architecturally interpret the DNA” of the iconic brand. Designs also had to incorporate environmentally sustainable materials and technology.
Not too surprisingly, Italian teams swept up all the top prizes — including the two first-place winners, while Gold Mention awards went to a U.S. team and a Cyprus team. The two first-place winners will each receive the €12,000 cash prize and the opportunity to have their designs realized.
