The interior design of the new Mandarin Oriental Hotel Barcelona, by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, recently helped the hotel win the title "Best Hotel Project of 2010" by Interior Design Magazine. Architects of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group's latest luxury offspring were Carlos Ferrater and Juan Trias de Bes.
Project Description:
Barcelona is a city with a rich architectural history and a passion for the avant-garde. This combination takes shape in its new luxury hotel, the Mandarin Oriental. Located on Barcelona’s prestigious Passeig de Gràcia, minutes from other landmarks like Las Ramblas and Antoni Gaudí’sCasa Batlló, the Mandarin Oriental is well suited for this stylish street.
World-renowned Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola created the vibrant interior space, relying extensively on her own bathroom collection, Axor Urquiola. The collection’s fresh, unusual shapes perfectly complement the bathroom’s other minimalist pieces and the modern aesthetic evident throughout the hotel. The same fusion of stylish charm and sleek, contemporary design present in the Axor Urquiola collection is found in every hallway, restaurant, and in all 98 rooms and suites of the Mandarin Oriental.
